Symptoms

  • Pain when lifting the arm, especially above shoulder height

  • Pain when lying on the affected side

  • Tenderness at the front of the shoulder

  • Loss of strength and range of motion

02

Risk Factors

  • Overhead activities: Such as swimming, tennis, or throwing sports

  • Poor posture: Leading to abnormal shoulder mechanics

  • Rotator cuff tendinitis: Can predispose to impingement

  • Anatomical variations: Such as a curved or hooked acromion

Treatment

  • Rest and Activity Modification: Avoiding activities that exacerbate symptoms

  • Physical Therapy: Exercises to strengthen the rotator cuff and improve shoulder mechanics

  • Ultrasound-Guided Injections: Reducing inflammation in the affected area

  • Surgical Decompression: In severe cases, surgery may be necessary to remove bony spurs or repair the rotator cuff
